So this past Saturday Ryan and I decided to go on a day trip with the Jeep. We ended up driving to exit 4 in Utah, right before the Nevada border. From there we followed, or tried to follow the directions of a Utah four-wheeling trail book. Unfortunately, the book was published in 2000, so it was a little old, but most of the trail we tried to follow was there. We only got sidetracked a little bit after lunch because we couldn't find the correct turn north. Ryan and I think that the trail has been closed off because we saw 2-3 "roads" that were closed to Off-road vehicles that went in the direction we wanted to go. Instead we ended up driving into Nevada and taking the state highway back to the middle of the trail (Lucin "Ghost Town").
From there we drove along the old Continental Railroad Track. When we were halfway home however, we got a flat tire which Fix-a-Flat couldn't fix, so we put the spare tire on and decided to head back to paved roads because we were about 50+ miles from civilization. This meant we didn't get to see the Golden Spike National park at the end of the trail, but I've been there before and we didn't want to risk getting permanently stuck in the wild.
Way too many pictures below.. but all well.

Our "day trip" supplies filled the back of the Jeep |
Oh, and we have a slow radiator coolant leak.. did you know? Apparently it only leaks when the vents are completely "off" though. |
Salt flats were full of water, even on the side of the roads. For a while the water was only about 1 foot below the road. |
This doesn't look that steep, but it is! and we made it up! |
On top of the hill, where we ate lunch. The sky was overcast, which was nice weather-wise, but makes for de-saturated pictures. |
Looking out from the hill. The trail that we took up the hill starts in the middle of the picture and then goes towards the left. |
Ryan decided to call his Mom while he had reception, but only on top of that rock there.. nowhere else. |
Parked at the top of the hill, which is the drop off behind the Jeep. |
These rocks reminded me of the ones that are in the new Pride and Prejudice movie, even though the countryside is nothing like England. |

Middle of Nowhere |
Old trestle railroad bridge. We only got to drive over one of these because most of them were falling to pieces. |
Just drove over 150+ year old wood bridge! |
Old cemetary of one of the towns along the continental railroad. Apparently vandals in the 1980s stole about 1/2 of the tombstone heads.. |
Fallen in trestle bridge. |
