Lately Ryan's been wanting to learn how to cook better, and his focus has been on learning to cook specialty foods/getting fancy with the spices. So last week, before our jaunt to Denver, we got out some chinese cook books so that we could try some authentic chinese recipies. Tonight we made chinese spring rolls, and I must say they turned out really well, although julienning (is that the verb of julienne?) the carrot and snow peas took the longest part. The other hard part was making sure that I borrowed a scale from school because everything in the recipe was measured in ounces...
Anyways, here is the finished product, and we saved some for lunch tomorrow! :)

Really bad picture of me, but Ryan took it saying, "these turned out so well we should blog it!"

Here are the spring rolls with the sauce that it said to make. Ryan has been really disappointed that we can't find fresh red chili peppers anywhere. I think that it's because they're out of season..

Ta Da! My food preparation class dinner arrangement skills put to use. By the way, that class has been fun to be in, but I'm not sure what I've learned so far besides that I'm petrified of all the diseases you can get from bad food, and how to make really good "chocolate peanut butter munchies".
Anyways, we're doing well, and we did take a trip to Denver last weekend to see Adam, Meredith, and Mackenzie, which was really fun. However, while we were driving on highway 70 about 1/2 way there I realized that I forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pictures. :( The best part I think was Mackenzie's face when Ryan and I came upstairs on Saturday morning and she was so confused about how these people were in her house without her knowing it, and how we got there because she was asleep when we arrived Friday at 1am.
