More Matthew Tidbits

Matthew is loving solids and so am I!  Since we started him on solids he has slept at least 8 hours straight (twice he has slept 11hours straight!) a night, which is so much nicer than the 3-4 hours that he had been sleeping since the beginning of the year.  Mmmm, yes.  I love solids and Matthew loves eating solids too.

On another note, Matthew has 'forgotten' how to roll over from back-to-front, but I think it's more he got chubbier and we didn't put him on his back enough so he isn't strong enough to move his chub around.  He will try to roll over, get to his side, then complain because he can't get any farther and he knows we are nearby.  He has been rolling from front-to-back more though, as well as going straight from sitting to his tummy. (As well as 'swimming' a ton while on his tummy)

Matthew also really wants to crawl.  He's been starting to get up on his knees, but he pushes himself backwards with his arms more than forwards towards the toy he wants to he doesn't like that...

His hair has finally started to grow!!  He now has some long strands of hair that stick straight up, and the rest of his hair/fuzz seems to be getting darker/growing as well.  Yay!

Ryan says that Matthew's legs remind him of a really fat person's legs because of all the rolls that hang down.  By the way, it's getting tough to get some of his pants over his thighs to put on his waist, even if they are 12 month clothes!

A Short Story:

On Sunday we went to the Marriage and Family class that just started (I thought it would be fun considering both our parents have taught the course) and there were 2 other babies in there.  One baby was 12 months old and the other was 15ish months old.  Well I put Matthew on the ground and the 15month old crawled over and promptly stole his toys.  Matthew was very confused, but didn't cry, so I was fine with it.  He needs to learn to share right??  Meanwhile Ryan was whispering "You gonna let him take that?  Go crawl over there and get it back!" - to Matthew, of course, who can't crawl yet.

Then I gave Matthew another toy, the 12 month old baby crawled over and was playing with his own toy next to Matthew, when the 15month old baby came back and stole the 12month baby's toy.  Needless to say the 15month old mom, who was sitting across the room was horrified, and quickly brought his toys over for Matthew and the 12 month old baby to play with.  They had lots of fun, while the 15month old ignored his own toys and just played with Matthew's and the other baby's toys.

A little while later though, the 15 month old crawled over holding one of Matthew's toys.  Matthew must have really wanted it because he dove after it with both hands when it came in reach (still in the other baby's hand).  He grabbed the toy and the sleeve of the little boy.  Unfortunately, Matthew's grip on the toy got loose, but he still had the sleeve!  The 15month old tried to crawl away again, but Matthew wouldn't let go, and his eyes were locked on his toy.  Well, when the 15month old tried to crawl away, Matthew pulled on his sleeve with all of his might and pulled the 15month over.. on top of himself, which caused him to fall over too, with the 15month old on top of him.

Neither one cried, and Matthew got interested in a different toy once we sat him up (and the 15 month old made his escape), but it was just hilarious to watch my 'little' baby pull this 'big kid' over, who can walk holding on to things, and has pretty good balance on his own!  So watch out! Matthew's got a really good grip, and is strong!

And some videos:

This video is from before I went to NJ, but it shows his smiles!

This is from a few days ago, sorry about the mess.. he takes over the living room when he's awake. (And those are 9 month clothes)
