August Activities

Summertime has flown by us this year, like always.  Ryan's been busy just about every weekend with scout camping trips or riding his dirt bike to get ready for his race in two weeks.  In between for dates we've visited several multi-million dollar homes during the Salt Lake Parade of Homes and generally just spent time together relaxing after we survive getting Matthew and Alice down for the night. (Okay, they are generally pretty good, but they each have their moments.)

Ryan also blessed Alice last Sunday, August 17th and gave her a very special blessing for health, marriage in the temple, an added measure of the spirituality, and a positive disposition for getting through the hard times in her life and for helping others through their difficulties.

Anyways here are some photos and a few preview photos of Matthew's birthday celebration that we'll be having later today!

Trying to pet the skates.. they never came close enough before Matthew was done waiting for them.

Penguins!

"Waiting is so hard, mommy." - This is a new saying he uses all the time when he's trying to patiently wait for something.  I think he likes being able to express himself, so others understand and we need to continue helping him learn to express 'harder' to explain emotions.

Alice is normal super smiley, but is had to get on camera.  She definitely loves faces though and she makes a ton of faces herself!

Alice's baby blessing.   She slept through all the photos, picking up, talking, rearranging, etc.

Our family visitors.

Our neighbors let Matthew borrow this car because he wanted to play more and they had to leave.  Matthew brought it in our house and slept in it for every nap and bedtime until I gave it back.

Visiting 'Grandma's condo' so I could go to BYU Education week last Monday.

I have almost and exact one of Matthew like this.

Matthew's birthday cake that I made.  It turned out really well and I'm relieved that the buttercream frosting transfer method I found on Pinterest worked like a charm!
